Adoption Agency

What to know about adoption?

I think the idea of adopting a child into your home is both wonderful and humanitarian.  Adoption is a legal process where an individual or a couples gain parental rights and responsibilities to a child.  In most cases the adoptee is a child but there can be some exception of adults being adopted as well.  Adoption is not a complicated process but you need to learn about the basic and prepare yourself before contacting any adoption agency putting out your request.  Not being complicated but it may means time consuming process because as part of the adoption process some wait time periods must be meet before a final hearing of granting an adoption is being taken place.  There are now universal laws on adoption; which are varied from state to state in America and country to country in abroad.

Regardless where the adoption may take place there is always Court involvement because orders must be issued by the Court in order for the adoption to be realized and merit. It is quite usual that the adoptee is being placed with the adopters before any court hearing, but the entire adoption has to be done through a social service adoption agency who evaluates the adoptive home to ensure its suitability to the adoptee.  The evaluation process may take a while to complete.  Once the evaluation is done then come the hearing where the adopters (likely adoptive parents) are being asked multiple questions regarding assets and liabilities that the adoptive parents are holding, their lifestyles, experiences, professions etc. In some cases, the Court can require a disclosure of trust funds held in the name of the child to be adopted.

Sometimes adoptive parents decide to use private adoptions plans to locate a child outside of the adoption agency.  Regardless which service or plans adoptive parents decide to use, the requirements of adoption process is more or less the same, except the evaluation on adoptive home will be done by a private guardian who visits the adoptive home to make reports and suggest whether or not this adoptive home is most suitable for the child to be adopted. Typically a private guardian is an attorney with practice in adoption therefore is responsible to give his independent opinion on possible adoption. If the Court requirements are met, a hearing will be held then followed by granting adoption rights.

That being said, there may be occurrence of some minor complications taken place during the adoption process. Most common problem involves whether or not a child is available for adoption.  If a child is orphan who lives in an orphanage then the answer of child availability is quite obvious. But if a child comes from social services agency where parents lost their parental rights because they have abused their children then verifying child availability may pose some complication. Adopting child from foreign countries may involve certain procedure determined by foreign jurisdiction that adoptive parents have to meet before and after child placement. Among adoption option, the most least complicated form is when adoptive parents extend help to a pregnant woman during her pregnancy and adopt a child right after his birth.
